90th Anniversary Celebration
On May 13th, 2013, The Woodbridge Horticultural Society celebrated our 90th Anniversary! Joining our Horticultural members at our monthly meeting were the Ontario Horticultural Association’s (OHA) District 15 Director, Carole Spraggett, and Barb Downey, Assistant Director.
Both brought greetings and congratulations on achieving this milestone from District 15 and the OHA. Joyce Bockmaster,
a life-long member of our Society, was presented with a Certificate from the OHA on behalf of our Society honouring our 90th Anniversary.
Other special guests in attendance included Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, and Ward 2 Councillor, Tony Carella. Each of them expressed their appreciation for the volunteer work done by our Society over the years in the community, with particular emphasis on the projects and seasonal decoration work that our members are involved in at Fred Armstrong Park, the Wallace House, the bridges, and Firehall Parkette. On behalf of our Society, Joyce Bockmaster accepted a Certificate presented to her by Mayor Bevilacqua and Councillor Carella on behalf of the City of Vaughan.
In a special tribute to commemorate our 90thAnniversary, Gail Stephenson and Marg Robertson organized, arranged and displayed some highlights from our Society’s history in the form of pictures, yearbooks, and other memorabilia. The evening ended with a celebration enjoying a large cake, fruit, coffee and tea.
